Coldwater Lobster Association will present the findings and our overall experience during the at-sea trials of Desert Star's acoustic release technology for lobster trawl fishing. We believe that it would be best for fishermen to hear from 'fishermen' on how the system works, the challenges that are presented and our thoughts on whether a system such as this could be implemented into a commercial lobster fishery.

THE FINE ART OF LONGLINING

Duration: 30 minutes

Presentation of the most important hook and line fisheries around the globe. Hook and line fisheries are spread out over all the Oceans, from the Patagonian Toothfish in the Antarctic, via Snapper fishery closer to the equator, and up to the Turbot and Cod fishery close to the Arctic icecap. In some fisheries, longline are selected simply because it is the most efficient way of getting the catch onboard, in other fisheries the reason for choosing hook and line is the premium quality of the catch, which several markets are paying a premium price for. We will explain briefly how the fishery are conducted and how it reach the premium market price.
